P.S. Das Zitat im Zitat stammt von der Antrittsrede Abraham Lincolns als 16. Präsident der USA am 4. März 1861. Hier die Übersetzung des Zitats:

Das Wort “brightly” im Zitat ist ein Adverb. (Es beschreibt das Verb “burn” näher). Wer noch einmal eine ausführliche Erklärung eines Adverbs haben will, muss hier klicken.

P.S. Im ersten Teil des Satzes dagegen bezieht sich “bright” auf das Substantiv “light” und ist daher ein Adjektiv!

Ab heute gibt es eine bwz. zwei neue Rubriken im Englisch-Blog. Mit “die besten Filmzitate” und “die besten Songzeilen” werde ich künftig immer wieder Songzeilen bzw. Filmzitate aus englischsprachigen Songs und Filmen vorstellen, die ich in irgendeiner Form erwähnenswert halte.

Natürlich freue ich mich über Vorschläge von “Textperlen”, denen Eurer Meinung nach bisher zu wenig Beachtung geschenkt worden ist.

P.S. Ich fürchte jedoch, dass ich bei den besten Songzeilen nicht der Versuchung werde widerstehen können, immer wieder ein paar Zeilen von Bob Dylan vorzustellen.

Den Anfang heute macht jedoch Nirvana.
