Approve und disapprove

Am 19. April 1882, also heute vor 128 Jahren, starb der britische Naturforscher und Begründer der Evolutionstheorie Charles Darwin. Von ihm stammt u.a. folgendes Zitat:
“A moral being is one who is capable of reflecting on his past actions and their motives – of approving of some and disapproving of others”
Das Verb “to approve” kann man je nach Zusammenhang mit “zustimmen”, “billigen” oder “für gut heißen” übersetzen. Entsprechend kann man “to disapprove” u.a. mit “misbilligen”, “ablehnen” oder “dagegen sein” übersetzen.
