Der heutige Linktipp hat nur indirekt etwas mit Englisch lernen zu tun. Es handelt sich um ein Web-Documentary von Samuel Bollendorff und Abel Ségrétin mit dem Titel “Journey To The End Of Coal“.
Zum Inhalt dieser preisgekrönten Webreportage aus dem Jahr 2008, die Bild, Ton und Film auf außergewöhnliche Art vereint, heißt es auf der Seite von Honkytonk Films:
“Journey To The End Of Coal tells you the story of a sacrifice. A sacrifice millions of Chinese coal miners are making everyday, risking their lives and spoiling their land to satisfy their own country’s appetite for economic growth.
Your journey begins in Datong which is located just a couple hours away West from Beijing. You travel from there all around the region and visit its major coal mines, from the “best” state-owned complex to the worst private coal plants.
In and around the coal mines, you get the story first hand from the mingong, the rural migrants traveling their country looking for work.

Gibt es eigentlich einen Unterschied in der Bedeutung von “victim” und “sacrifice”?
@ Rene: Ja, gibt es. “victim” ist das Opfer z.B. eines Verbrechens, während “sacrifice” ein Opfer bringen meint.
Kommunismus ist dieses heuchlerische System, das vorgibt die Arbeiter weniger auszubeuten als der Kapitalismus, während es in Wirklichkeit weitaus schlimmer ist und die Leute bis zum letzten Schweißtropfen ausquetscht und ausnutzt.
Am Montag, 8. März, ist übrigens Internationaler Tag der Frau. Bekommen wir da einen Artikel über uns?
