Congestion und constipation

Heute vor sieben Jahren wurde in der britischen Hauptstadt die so genannte “London Congestion Charge” eingeführt. Dabei handelt es sich um eine Innenstadtmaut für Kraftfahrzeuge.

Das Substantiv “congestion” kann in diesem Zusammenhang mit “Verkehrsbelastung” oder auch “Stau” übersetzt werden.
Bsp: “Meanwhile, congestion continues to cost the UK economy an estimated £20bn a year and travellers continue to suffer frustration and delay on key routes across the country.” Quelle: BBC
Darüber hinaus kann “congestion” auch allgemein mit Stauung oder Verstopfung übesetzt werden. Eine verstopfte Nase kann man entsprechend mit “congested nose” übersetzen.

Achtung: Eine Verstopfung im Sinne eines Verdauungsproblems heißt auf Englisch “constipation“. Entsprechend heißt Verstopfung haben auf Englisch “to be constipated”.
