United breaks guitars
Der kanadische Musiker Dave Carroll sorgt derzeit mit dem seinem Song “United breaks guitars” für Aufsehen. Carroll war mit der Fluggesellschaft United Airlines von Halifax über Chicago nach Nebraska unterwegs und beobachtete, wie Gepäckarbeiter beim Gepäckumladen seine 3500 Dollar teure Taylor Gitarre schwer beschädigten. Die Reparatur der Gitarre kostete 1200 Dollar und Carroll bemühte sich neun Monate vergeblich um Schadenersatz. Daraufhin schrieb Carroll einen Country-Song mit dem Titel “United breaks Guitars”, der seit seinem Hochladen auf YouTube am 6. Juli bereits 2,9 Millionen Mal angeschaut worden ist.
Die weltweite Resonanz auf das Video und die Ankündigung Carrolls, weitere “Protest-Songs” zu schreiben haben das Unternehmen nun veranlasst, Carroll zu entschädigen. Darüber hinaus kündigte das Unternehmen an, das Video künftig offiziell zur Mitarbeiterschulung zu verwenden, um den Service zu verbessern.
Im Video wird der Text des Songs schön verdeutlicht, so dass man die Geschichte gut mitverfolgen kann.

“My God, they’re throwing guitars out there!”
The band and I exchanged a look,
best described as terror,

who showed complete indifference towards me.

I confirmed what I suspected
my Taylor had been the victim of a vicious act of malice at O’Hare

“I’m sorry, Sir, your claim can go nowhere.”
So do all the airline’s people from
New York to New Deli, including kind Ms. Irlweg,
who says the final word from them is “no”,
