Gewinnspiel: Mein englischer Lieblingssatz
Anlässlich des einjährigen Bestehens des Englisch-Blogs hatte ich bereits angekündigt, dass ich hier eine Kleinigkeit verlosen werde. Ich habe mir überlegt, dass es ganz schön wäre, wenn hierzu möglichst viele Leute einfach ihren “englischen Lieblingssatz” als Kommentar auf diesem Blog hinterlassen. Ich weiß, dass es natürlich schwierig ist, einen Satz zu nennen, den man aus welchen Gründen auch immer als “Lieblingssatz” bezeichnen könnte. Ich bin mir dennoch sicher, dass auf diese Weise ein nette Liste zusammen kommen könnte. Es ist auch möglich, mehrere Kommentare zu verfassen, wenn man denn mehrere Lieblingssätze hat…
Allerdings haben mehrere Kommentare natürlich keinen Einfluss auf die Gewinnchancen. Unter allen Teilnehmenden lose ich eine/n Gewinner/in aus. Zu gewinnen gibt es einen mit ‘Der Englisch-Blog’ gravierten 1 GB iPod Shuffle. Die Verlosung läuft bis diesen Sonntag, 28.6. um 12.00 Uhr. Kommentare, die nach diesem Zeitpunkt eingehen, werden nicht mehr berücksichtigt. Der Rechtsweg ist natürlich ausgeschlossen.
Der Gewinner wird dann von mir per E-Mail angeschrieben. Dort werde ich dann nach vollständigem Namen und Lieferadresse fragen. Der Gewinn muss ja auch irgendwo ankommen. Den Namen des Gewinners (wenn vorhanden auch gerne mit einem Link auf dessen/deren Website) werde ich dann auf dem Englisch-Blog vorstellen.

Ich mag Sätze, die Lust auf mehr machen – z.B. der erste Satz aus Iain Banks’ “The Crow Road”: “It was the day my grandmother exploded.” Wer da nicht Lust hat weiterzulesen, dem kann ich nicht helfen… Have fun if you ever get round to reading it.
Es wurden schon tolle Sätze genannt, die Auswahl dürfte schwer fallen. Ich wollte zuerst auch den in Kommentar 88 erwähnten Satz wählen und weiche jetzt aus auf:

Grad erst im Feed entdeckt, die Deadline ist vorbei. Das gibt mir aber die Gelegenheit, meinen zweitliebsten Satz zu bringen:
“I love deadlines. I like the whooshing sound they make as they fly by.” (Doug Adams)
Gegen die Deadline-Panik hilft ein weiterer Lieblingssatz:
“Accept that everything is a draft. It helps to get it done.”
Aber nun die absolute Nummer Eins:
“When the Going gets tough, the Tough get going.”
Taugt sehr gut als Lebensmotto, wenn man das “get going” nicht als “run away” interpretiert, sondern als “get rough”. Sehr schön zu hören in dem Song von Billy Ocean (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=35YivWEs3zw), der diesen Satz, der wohl ursprünglich von einem der Kennedy’s stammt, bekannt gemacht hat.
Und dann noch – oben schon genannt, aber mit offizieller Quelle:
